New Pokemon of the Week: Metagross

Metagross: the Iron LEG Pokemon

Metagross is an extremely useful Pokemon in many occasions and many ways. Its super high base defense and base attack (130 and 135) are perfect for a tanking Pokemon. The only problem is that Metagross's speed is quite high for a heavy tanking Pokemon, so it does not exactly qualify by my standards. But still, that doesn't really matter. There are actually two really useful combinations of Metagross. So here's Metagross, our second Pokemon of the week.

Ev: Attack, HP, 4 speed
Nature: Up attack, down special attack (Adamant)
Held item: Choice Band/Leftovers
Moves:
-Pursuit
-Meteor Mash
-Earthquake
-Ice Punch
Metagross won't be needing any special attack in this moveset, so you might as well give up its special attack for its attack. So considering Metagross is holding a Choice Band, your opponent is actually likely to run away from its mega high power (with a choice band), and in that case, pursuit is likely to KO anyone who dares to switch out. Earthquake and Metoer Mash need no explaining. Ice Punch allows good coverage over Dragon type teams and flying teams, which is very useful for Dragon users. Leftovers help if you want Metagross to tank the entire team out, as it regains its HP. Thats why you need to raise your HP for long enduring battles.

EV: Attack, Hp and speed split
Nature: Adamant
Item: Leftovers
Moveset:
-Explosion
-Earthquake
-Meteor Mash
-Agility

Attack will raise, special attack will lower. Your speed will raise and agility will help lift it in a team sweep situation. When your HP is low, Explosion is a last resort and because your speed is high, Explosion is a surefire damaging last resort suicide. Meteor Mash and Earthquake need no explanation.
